The Canadian astronaut’s birthday message consists of the note “Your genius tradition resides on!”

Albert Einstein was born upon Pi Day on March 14, 1879, and passed away in 1955, years prior to the very first human ventured into area. On his birthday in 2019, his image enhances the International Spaceport station.

Canadian Area Company astronaut David Saint-Jacques shared a photo of Einstein drifting in microgravity in front of a background of Earth’s blue water and clouds.

The image reveals an especially wild-haired Einstein together with the message, “Pleased birthday, Albert Einstein!” There’s an extra handwritten note: “Your genius tradition resides on!”

Einstein’s birthday isn’t the only ISS-related nod to Pi Day today. 2 NASA astronauts and a Roscosmos cosmonaut are set to launch to the ISS on Thursday on a Soyuz rocket. The launch time is set for 3: 14 p.m. ET (12: 14 p.m. PT).

NASA’s Nick Hague is among the area tourists who will be on board. He called the Pi Day launch “an engineer’s dream become a reality.” If all goes as prepared, he’ll have the ability to go to Einstein in area soon.
