• The iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Wagens are getting an upgrade for the 2025 model year.
  • Both new models have 48-volt hybrid systems.
  • Adaptive cruise control is available for the first time on the G63.

Mercedes-Benz is updating its iconic G-class SUVs for the 2025 model year, adding electrified options to both models.

The G550 swaps its previous V8 rumbler for a new turbo six-cylinder, with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which reduces emissions when accelerating from a full stop.

The G63, on the other had, retains the V8 and adds the same 48-volt hybrid system.

Both models feature better technology inside and out, including an adaptive cruise control system known as AMG Active Ride Control for the G63 — a first for the G-class.

Pricing for the SUVs have not been announced yet, but the new Mercedes G-class is expected to hit US dealerships later this year.
