I wish to humbly counsel that you have not actually lived till you have watched this video of a large gelatinous squid egg ball noticed underwater within the Ørstafjorden fjord in Norway on Oct. 5.

The Analysis Expedition Vessel Ocean crew introduced the wild sight to our consideration. Whereas it appears to be like like an alien has invaded the water, what we’re seeing is a large egg mass generated by a squid. The gel sac protects the eggs inside.

Diver Ronald Raasch filmed the squid-kids. One other diver shined a lightweight on the ball. The egg mass appears to be like sufficiently big to swallow a number of folks. REV Ocean captain Nils Baadnes took half within the dive.

The gooey formation is a uncommon sight. Nationwide Geographic shared a glance at the same mass discovered off the coast of Turkey in 2015. “These egg lots are hardly ever seen, as they’re deep underwater and final for just a few days earlier than the squid infants hatch and the mass disintegrates,” Nationwide Geographic stated within the video description.

Underwater explorers have gifted us with some unimaginable cephalopod footage lately, starting from the lovable (like this dumbo octopus) to the eerie (this elusive large squid). We will now add a gloriously blobby egg ball to our rising checklist of wonders from the deep.
