  • Federighi demonstrated his guitar skills again during an interview this week. 

Apple’s new Vision Pro mixed-reality headset was a highly anticipated moment at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 5. But a guitar solo from one Apple executive during the livestream may have stolen the show. 

In the pre-recorded video clip from the WWDC keynote stream, Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, is shown wearing a leather jacket and holding a triple-neck electric guitar. As a segue to introducing updates to Apple’s Airpods product, Federighi proceeds to play a guitar riff.

 

The moment, videos of which have been circulating on social media, had many wondering if Federighi was actually playing the guitar. One interviewer finally got the answer to the burning question. 

Later that week, Federighi appeared on John Gruber’s “The Talk Show,” an annual event held after WWDC. Gruber, who runs the Apple-focused blog DaringFireball.net, was also joined by Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing. 

In a video clip from the interview, Joswiak pulls out an electric blue guitar from behind two chairs — prompting laughter and cheers from the crowd. The full interview has also been uploaded to the blog’s YouTube channel.

 

“Is it true, Craig? Did you do that lick in the keynote?” Joswiak asks Federighi. 

“I don’t know, man,” Federighi responds, before proceeding to jam away in an extended guitar solo.

Federighi is the latest tech exec to showcase a hobby they do outside of work. Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, for instance, has started competing in jiu-jitsu matches, and gained a shredded physique as a result.
